# GGWPBot Permissions

**View Channels**

* For “seeing” messages in *all* channels.
* Note that private channels won't be accessible even with this permissions.

**Moderate Members**

* For performing timeouts on toxic users.
* Needed if automod config is activated.

**Send Messages,** **Send Messages in Threads**

* For sending messages in channels.
* GGWPBot sends a disappearing message after deleting a toxic message.

**Manage Messages,** **Manage Threads**

* For deleting toxic messages.
* Needed if message deletion config is activated.

**Attach Files**

* For attaching files (like `csv`'s) in messages.
* Will be using this permission to send downloadable reports that can be viewed by the guild's mods.

**Read Message History**

* For reading messages sent when a member/bot was not online.
* Because GGWPBot always stays online, we need this permissions only when onboarding the bot to a new guild, for reading messages sent before the bot was onboarded.
